Recognition from Lynn Mayor, Jared C. Nicholson and President of The Massachusetts Senate, Karen E. Spilka.

I find my motivation in the depths of love and passion, which fuel my actions every day. My roles as a devoted wife, mother to two wonderful children, diligent student, dedicated employee, published author, and advocate for education and mental health are all powered by this fervor.

Reflecting on my journey, I arrived in the United States at the age of 16 with minimal English proficiency and no connections. Alongside my parents and sister, we navigated the challenges of being newcomers with determination, faith, and a shared resolve to contribute positively to society. Through every experience, I discovered the beauty of growth, with each challenge shaping who I am today.

As a lifelong student, I am always seeking knowledge and self-improvement. I have encountered many obstacles, but I have consistently found opportunities for growth. My focus remains on solutions, valuing the precious gift of time, the beauty of learning, and the importance of giving back to society.

I wouldn’t change a single moment of my journey. Every experience, hurdle, and triumph has contributed to who I am. While my journey continues, the lessons I’ve learned have shaped me into a more insightful, compassionate individual. These lessons fortify my resolve to make a lasting impact on my community and the world. Knowing that my journey inspires others to work toward a better world fills me with gratitude and joy.

One moment that deeply touched me was raising the Peruvian flag at Lynn City Hall on July 28th, in celebration of Peru’s Independence Day. It was a special opportunity to honor my heritage and the significance of freedom. This act of unity and pride further reinforced the importance of cultural preservation.

What made this experience even more meaningful was the recognition I received from Mayor Jared Nicholson for my leadership and service to the Latino community. I am equally grateful to President Karen Spilka and the Massachusetts State for acknowledging my commitment to making a positive impact on Lynn, the Peruvian community, and beyond. This recognition is humbling and motivating, propelling me to continue my efforts in education and mental health—fields I am deeply passionate about.

This acknowledgment validates the hard work I’ve put into my endeavors, and I am inspired to continue striving for excellence. I am immensely grateful to everyone who supported me along the way; your encouragement has been instrumental in my journey. I am proud to be part of a community that fosters growth and unity. Your leadership is inspiring, and I am thankful to contribute to the ongoing flourishing of our city.

To all the immigrants who have come, or are about to come, like I once did—do not give up. The key lies in never forgetting where you come from, but always keeping a clear vision of where you want to go. It’s all about resilience, staying focused on your goals, and showing kindness to yourself because this journey is not easy. Embrace your emotions, rise from the floor when life knocks you down, and keep working toward your dreams. Those dreams you carry hold the answers and the change our world needs.
